Nutritional survey, serum parathyroid hormone, serum 25-Oh vitamin D, serum parathyroid hormone related peptide, and ultrasound densitometry were performed among 73 free-living elderly people aged over 60 years. The mean age of subjects was 69 years. Among 73 subjects, 27 were male and 46 female. The daily total calcium intake was 699§· in male and 700§· in female. The serum levels of parathyroid hormone and parathyroid hormone related peptide were similar in male and female. The serum levels of 25-OH vitamin D were significantly higher in female than in male. The serum levels of 25-OH vitamin D were lower than those of Caucasian. The serum levels of Parathyroid hormone in male were positively correlated with age. There was no significant correlation between serum levels of parathyroid hormone related peptide or 25-OH vitamin D with age. Bone stiffness values in male were significantly higher than that in female, and positively correlated with age.
